Introduction

In spite of appearances, the structure of the stern of l'Aurore is fairly complex.

It needs a robust framework and the decoration is relatively limited.

The transom has only one row of windows, no stern gallery and two gunports theoretically closed by a screen and used as aeration for the powder magazine where women slaves were kept.

The stern gives an impression of simplicity intended to reduce the weak points.
