Le Requin, Mediterranean Chebec of 1750 A true greyhound of the seas, this typical ship of the East was armed with 24 cannons. Being one of the eight chebecs realized in France between 1750 and 1762, she was set up for construction by the shipbuilder Joseph Caubet, a native of Majorca, and the completion took less than eight months.
The extraordinary slenderness of the profile of this ship drove me to conceive a model capable of showing simultaneously the framework, the armament and the rigging.
The pictures are from Florian Roy (1) and Karl Durupt (2).
